Neil graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2001 with a First Class Honours and the Glasgow Institute of Architecture prize. He then worked in a Senior Architect at Wilkinson Eyre Architects in London (2001-2009) and gained his professional qualification at London’s South Bank University in 2005.

Neil founded TAP in 2009, receiving the RIAS Emerging Architect of the Year Award in 2017, in recognition of his work at the practice. TAP have completed buildings across a wide range of scales and typologies including domestic extensions, residential development, community, commercial and leisure-use projects, many of which involve working with existing buildings and historic structures, always with the aim of improving the environmental performance and enhancing the character of the original.
