Dr Ruth Lang is an architect, curator, academic, and writer, whose work explores how architectural practice can adapt in response to issues of diversity and the Climate Emergency. She is a lecturer in professional practice at the Royal College of Art and the London School of Architecture. In 2022 she published ‘Building for Change’ (pub. gestalten) demonstrating how contemporary practitioners are applying creative reuse strategies in architecture at the scale of the material, the building, the site, and in designing for future deconstruction and adaptation. As lead researcher at the Design Museum’s Future Observatory, she investigated the hurdles to adopting low embodied carbon construction in the housebuilding sector, identifying ways in which these can be overcome by using the Design Museum as a springboard for innovative practice.
