Steve Rankin is an Associate Director and Certified Passivhaus Designer at Architype. He is passionate about low carbon solutions and, having worked at Architype since 2014, has been able to contribute to the successful delivery of many of the practice’s major projects.
His 18 years in architectural practice has seen him work on projects of a range of building types and scales, from energy-efficient home masterplans to new build commercial developments and the eco-refurb of listed Victorian and Georgian properties to BREEAM Excellent standard. Current projects include leading the design of a 6-storey Passivhaus secondary school in Tower Hamlets and the eco-retrofit of a community hostel in Camden.
Steve regularly contributes to student mentoring and industry talks, most recently at the AJ’s ‘How to be a sustainable practice’ following Architype’s win as the AJ100 Sustainable Practice of the Year. Architype were winners of the AJ Retrofit Awards in 2015, for Robert Fitzroy Academy
