Hero is Max Fordham’s Sustainability Director and leader of the 'MF: Beyond Net Zero' strategy group. Joining the practice in 2008 with a background in engineering and physics, Hero has since set and delivered pioneering sustainability strategies on projects across a wide range of sectors, and is now one of the leading voices in the UK construction industry’s response to the climate emergency.

She is experienced in all leading environmental certification schemes, whole life carbon reduction, and the circular economy, as well as wellbeing, low carbon environmental design, and masterplanning strategies. She is an expert facilitator, using her knowledge and experience to help clients explore, define, and achieve their sustainability aspirations.

On all her projects, Hero is motivated by the need to feel more connected to people and to create buildings with low environmental impact for happy lives.

Externally, Hero makes regular contributions to the wider agenda, including the development of the ‘Sustainability Matrix' - a communication tool which has been adopted by the industry to help set sustainability briefs on construction projects. She is a regular awards judge, a sustainability expert for the RIBA National Awards Group, and sits on the ACE Climate Action Group and the Greater Cambridgeshire and Suffolk Design Review Panels. She is a BREEAM Accredited Professional, Chartered Construction Manager and Chartered Environmentalist.
