Neil Taylor is founder and director of TAP, an Edinburgh based practice recognised for its thoughtful approach to working with existing buildings. The studio’s work spans a wide range of typologies and scales including residential, community and commercial projects and is characterised by an exploration of form and materiality combined with a rigorous attention to detail.
Neil graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2001 receiving the Glasgow Institute of Architecture prize. He went on to work as a Senior Architect at WilkinsonEyre in London, before founding TAP in 2009. The practice has received multiple awards including a Civic Trust Award and RIAS Building of the Year Award and in 2017 Neil was named Emerging Architect of the Year by the RIAS in recognition of the practice’s growing body of work. Alongside practice, Neil has contributed as a visiting tutor at Newcastle University.
